Design Assist | 2023-2024

This is a project I have fond memories of as I am a theatre kid myself & got to work with another fellow designer named Alexa (shout out to my girl!). I was asked to provide sketching, rendering, and sculpt review help for our first wave of Wicked theatrical fashion dolls for the upcoming theatrical release Fall of 2024. One of the most challenging parts I remember was achieving Ariana Grande’s likeness—finding the right balance of simplified forms that left little to nowhere to hide any mistakes proved tricky and demanded careful iteration. All that to say, I’m still not entirely content with the final read as Ariana’s face is incredibly symmetrical leaving no room for error, but alas, such is the song and dance of design translation, and it was a rewarding learning experience nonetheless. Schedule did not allow for further exploration as I was needed on Frozen.
